I have not written anything for over a month. This is partially due to the fact I have a lot on my plate but also down to the fact that I have been doing a fair amount of reading, all the books being by the same author, Haruki Murakami. The first book of his that I read was Norwegian Wood which has spurred me on to read The Windup Bird Chronicle and 1Q84 parts 1 and 2 and I am halfway through 1Q84 part 3.
I have no training in literary critcism and therefore no real framework to work within. However, I have been fascinated with all of these books but particularly 1Q84, a fantasy set in 1984 Japan. There is not a lot of action but the intense characterisation and attention to the mundanities of peoples daily routine and that whole Japanese thing I have found quite riveting .
My aim is to read more of Murakami and maybe publish a longer article but I would say, have look at him, Its certainly worth the effort.
